The new role of HR

In which direction is the HR profession heading in our never-normal world?

This question I have been asked many time and also heard discussed in different professional platforms and HR communities.

Sure, we can analyze where we have been and observe where we are standing now. But when it comes to predicting where HR is going next… The thing is — the scenarios of development in this never-normal world are different, and we can speak only about where we are heading now, but not where we will arrive after a while.

Still, over time and through working with numerous organizations; and HR professionals, I cane to a simple formula that helps me stay focused on the subject. I call my formula a FCRD shift—a mindset and practice that reflects the ongoing transformation of the HR profession.

Here is what it means for me:

F – Facilitation instead of Function

The new generation of HR is no longer just about fulfilling functions or ticking boxes. It is about facilitating conversations, communication and relationships, change across teams and organizations. Facilitation today is a leadership act—and a strategic one.

D – Data instead of Doubt

Gut feeling has its place, but data-driven decisions bring clarity and confidence. Modern HR uses people analytics not just to measure, but to guide, predict, and improve.

The beauty of this shift is in its simplicity—and its call to action. Sometimes, changing the words we use can change the way we think. And that shift in mindset should lead to a shift in skillset.

Hope this was useful and I am curious to read your thoughts.
